Update from Tom Clements
- Fri 5/2
I just got off the phone from Tom Clements who is heading for bed on their last
day at Bibiani. He sounded exhausted. They travel tomorrow to Accra, leaving at
8 am for the trip home on Sunday. Tom mentioned that have spent a very long week
of hardwork, but rewarding work. The team saw over 1,500 patients, but could
have seen more. At times, Tom and Don Madda, were the "policeman" that had to
turn people away. It was a difficult task keeping the crowd in control. Every
day they awoke at 5:30 and bed time was 10:00. Very filling days for everyone,
and a succesful mission
The entire team
spent the first Saturday making house calls in the area, preaching and spreading
the word. Sunday was spent at Church most of the day handing out prayer cards
and rosaries. Then during the week, the medical mission went to a near by
village - Sunyani (I believe that is the village, the phone connection was not
that good) to look at the sick and those that needed healing. You will hear more
about the medical mission accomplishments when they return home.
Tom did have a
chance to meet the new Headmaster at St. Joseph's. He spent 3 hours going over
objectives. He appears to be a good man with five years spent at Fordham. He has
good solid understanding of the role Father Simon and the Clap for Jesus
organization have on the overall building of the school. The facility looks
great, but the dorms being ready on time looks tight. Tom is working with the
headmaster on developing a 10 year plan.
In summary, the
people of the surrounding area of Bibiani are very thankful for the visit.
Tom will have
much more when he returns to Georgia.
Please pray for
the safe return of the mssion team
God Bless

Letter from Fr. Simon - Sat, 17 Nov 2007
Tom,
Update on activities for the day. Dr. Phil and Ms. Lupita joined us for 5.30am
mass. We had breakfast and they went to the hospital for a visit.
At 9.00am, we left for Awaso. A team from Canada are helping one of our priest
also to put up a Middle School so that is a good news for us. We shall have
students there to fill St. Joseph's.
From Awaso, we went to St. Joseph's campus. The Bishop was having a dedication
Mass so we went to his house for lunch and later met him at the cathedral.
Dr. Phil and Lupita had some discussions with him. He was very grateful and hope
to see them in April.
At the moment Phil and Lupita are with Dr. Paul. Hope to take them to Accra
tomorrow after Mass.
Give you later update.
Thanks for all the gifts you sent.
God bless.
Fr. Simon
